2 Colinsville Axe Factory signs

The museum is fortunate to have recently acquired two late 19th century signs to complement our collections.

One sign illustrates a greeting: “Welcome to Collinsville Home of the Famous Collins Axes” while the reverse side text is “Leaving Collinsville.” The sign was mounted outdoors but is in very readable condition. We suspect that it may have been located on the west side of the bridge across from the foot of Bridge Street or on Route 179 at the Canton-Burlington town line.

The other sign is in the shape of a large pick, advertising Collins picks. It was likely located in a retail store as it appears to have been displayed indoors.

The Canton Historical Society greatly appreciates the support of longtime donors who assisted in making the acquisition possible.
